What Is the Testnet?

How to Access It
In the APP
- Open Binance APP
- Go to Futures trading
- Find "Mock Trading" or the toggle switch at the top
- Switch to mock mode
- Virtual funds are automatically allocated
On the Web
- Log into Binance web
- Go to Futures
- Find the mock trading toggle in the top-right
- Switch to the simulated environment
What Can You Practice?
Familiarize with the Interface
The futures interface is more complex than spot — leverage settings, margin modes, multiple order types. Practice without worrying about mistakes.
Practice Opening and Closing Positions
- Long and short positions
- Different order types
- Setting take-profit and stop-loss
- Partial and full position closes
Test Strategies
Validate trading strategies in the testnet. Record each trade's reasoning, process, and outcome.
Experience Liquidation
Deliberately open high-leverage positions to understand what liquidation feels like — better with virtual money than real.
Testnet vs. Live Trading Differences
Same: Price sync, features, order types Different: No real market depth impact, large orders always fill (live may have slippage), no real emotional pressure, execution speed may vary
When to Go Live
Consider transitioning when you:
- Have paper traded for at least 2–4 weeks
- Master all basic operations
- Can consistently execute stop-losses
- Have a clear position management plan
- Show overall positive results
Transitioning Tips
- Start with minimum position sizes and lowest leverage
- Maintain the same discipline as paper trading
- Manage the emotional impact of real money
- Don't relax risk standards just because amounts are small
The testnet is the best learning tool for futures — use it fully to avoid costly "tuition fees."
